Ilse Kotzee
I hold an MSc in Environmental and Water Science from the University of the Western Cape. I am currently registered for a PhD in the Conservation Ecology Department at Stellenbosch University. My interest in ecosystem services stem from my MSc work in which I looked at the ecohydrology of wetlands.
My research interests at the moment are centred on building resilience to climate change impacts with a focus on the links between the ecosystem service of flood regulation and disaster risk management. The work is applied at a landscape scale using tools such as models, scenario analysis and assessment indices.
The aim of the research is to create a baseline from which to measure the effectiveness of programs, policies, and interventions designed to improve disaster resilience.
